Items

This page is not yet complete please be patient while we work on it.

An Item is an object which the player can pick up, keep in their bag, and use in some manner. They have various uses, including healing, powering up, helping one to catch Pokémon, or to access a new area. Items are obtained in several different ways. They can be given to the player by characters within the game, be bought at a Poké Mart for money, or found by the player throughout the Pokémon world.

Mundane Items

Mundane Items are Items that are so unimportant, mundane, or ubiquitous for the purpose of an adventure that the GM may rule them to be free, costing nothing at all. This includes things like clothes,  wrist watches, etc.

Items from the game.

You can find an item List in the (Dex 436) or online at: Bulbapedia.

Weapons

Weapons are items that are made to inflict damage on trainers and/or Pokémon.

**Sword/Axe/etc. 110 1 500
**Polearm 160 2 500
Whip 30 3 300

*: Can be used while grappling without penalty.

**: Means the item is illegal, without a special permit. Openly carrying such weapons around in cities is a good way to get in trouble with the cops… but out in the wild, it’s very unlikely anyone will check you for weaponry, or prosecute you for carrying it. Since the wild is dangerous, many trainers do carry weapons, and most police will turn a blind eye to it.
However, if seen with illegal weaponry in areas where there has been violent crime… you might be prosecuted and questioned, as a potential suspect.

*: Guns have different modes. Burst Fire, for example, means that three bullets will be shot every time you pull the trigger. Auto Fire sends out bullets until you stop pulling the trigger. You take a penalty for using either of these, as described below (under, “**”).
For Burst Fire, rather than inflicting 195 damage (65 x 3), you roll 3 attacks, inflicting 65 damage each. Each attack has the same bonuses and penalties. With Auto Fire, you roll five attacks, each at 65 damage.

**: Some weapons are very long range, or even have different modes of firing. Shooting at long range or with advanced modes of fire, reduces your accuracy. Thus, for each step up in range and firing mode, you reduce your margin of success by 50 (if damage is reduced to 0 or less, you miss).
Example:
Team Rocket Goon fires his Shotgun (Damage: 90) at 20 metres. He takes no penalty and achieves a success margin of 30 (damage: 120).  He then fires double-barrelled (Damage: 160) at 30 metres, and gets a margin of 70!… but since his target was beyond 20 metres, and since he shot double-barrelled: He takes a penalty of -100 to his margin of success, reducing it to -30. Instead of 150 damage, he inflicts 130. (160 + -30 = 130)
Goon picks up an Assault Rifle, and decides to shoot at 400 yards (-100 penalty). His success margin is 20, which is dropped to -80… This reduces his damage to below 0, so he misses. (75 + (20 – 100 = -80) = -5)

***: This weaponry is illegal, without special licenses. Missile weapons are generally treated for more seriously than melee weapons–especially guns… If you are seen with a gun, you will almost definitely be questioned, and prosecuted if you don’t have the appropriate license.
Even with licenses, you can’t openly carry guns around cities (unless it’s part of your job), and are required to check them in at certain places (before entering the Pokemon Tournaments or Casinos, for example).
With the more dangerous weaponry, you also stand to get in a lot more trouble than getting caught with broad-headed arrows.

**Kevlar Vest IV                       70/160*                                    8,000

*: Defense is only against bullets.

**: This armour is illegal without special licenses. Although, if you put on the right appearance (and have an appropriate gun), it’s easy to pretend you are a soldier or SWAT (if you get caught impersonating such, however… expect TROUBLE!!). However, if you’re on your own (no one else around with similar equipment), you’ll more likely be suspected as an illegal mercenary or terrorist.
Police will be very suspicious about people with restricted armor… even if they have legal papers! Still, it’s not as bad as getting caught with an unlicensed gun.

***: Defense against Blunt Trauma and Bullets.

Note: Most armor can be bypassed, either by successfully grappling, or by aimed strikes/shots. Note also the Kevlar armors of the modern day are the easiest to bypass – the limbs and face usually being unarmored – whereas medieval plate and samurai armour would be the hardest.
